Swift Boat Candidate On Esquire

The frontcover of the January 2007 issue of Esquire magazine depicts a legless young man with a prosthetic arm proudly holding his Purple Heart. The heart wrenching picture is worth a thousand words, and any thoughts of comfort, thanks or honor may seem trivial to the loss this soldier endured.
Esquire excerpt:
“I kind of felt guilty. I feel like I took the easy way out, which I know isn't true, but I wanted to be back there.” – Sgt. Bryan Anderson, triple amputee

The only thing I can offer the young man is this advice: Do not grow angry towards the president or the country. If you feel you have made a difference, keep that faith. Because if you don’t, and you roll up to the White House fence and throw that Purple Heart (or a facsimile of it) over in disgust and then run for Congress or President 20 years from now, the Swift Boat Veterans will remember. They will say that you volunteered for military service to get into Iraq. They will say you deliberately drove over an IED just to get the medal and cut your time short. They will say the Esquire photo was a publicity stunt for your future campaign run. They will repeat your “easy way out” conscience, brave soldier. Who knows, they may also imply everyone got a medal even if it was only a scratch…… God bless you, Esquire soldier.

Your comparing this guy to John Kerry? Comeon!! Last I looked John Kerry had all his limbs. I bet this guy doesn't think much of John Kerry and his statements on the military. I wonder if this soldier's parents think their son is "stupid". This guy is a soldier. John Kerry is a career politican (and liar). To make the comparrison is a slap in the face to our men and woman who are fighting for our freedoms.

Does it matter what he thinks of John Kerry? I'm not comparing his loss to Kerry's. Had Kerry not run for president against an incumbent whose military record had been censored by his own pen, we would never had heard of the SBV. Those vets should be ashamed to disregard the service of anyone, even if they only spent one day in a warzone. To review his past like it was some great plan to reach the presidency was absurd. I'm merely warning this young man of this absurdity.

Those veterens had every right to speak up and tell them about John Kerry. Your past will always come up when you run for President or any public office. That's just the way it is in this day and age. That soldier sound like a true soldier and someone who I'm proud to have serving my country. This soldier lost both legs and felt he should still be out their doing his job. That's awesome. God bless men and woman who are as selfish as this soldier. This soldier is more of a man then John Kerry ever will be.

its a goddamn shame we live in a country where a soldiers honor is judged by how many limbs they lost or how long they serve. sickening.

It's just as sickening when your branded a "traitor" because you don't believe the President is right.

It's a damn shame that an American Senator is honored in a communist country like John Kerry is. It's also sickening that he shits on the miliatry ever chance he gets.

Nearly 100 million Americans honor a communist country by shopping at wal-mart. Lets rip Kerry, he's the evil-doer.

Typical leftie comeback. Throw the wal-mart hatred in the mix. If you lefties were true to your beliefs you wouldn't shop at toys-r-us, bestbuy, homedepot, target, shopko, walgreens, macdonalds, petco, farm & Fleet,TJ maxx,It's called free trade not communism. You lefties embrace communism and socailism. Hugo Chavez is your hero.

Its okay to link up an american senator with communism, but not Wal-Mart? Typical.

China is communist. Our workers are competing with 25 cent an hour slave labor whether we shop at Wal-Mart or not. You can mix it any way you like, righties call it "free trade."

The senator met with a communist country in the time of war. Wal-mart and other companies are trading with China. Let's compare apples to apples.

John Kerry is a traitor. A war hero in a communist country. He is honored in a museum in Ho-Chi-Ming City.

Fortunately, americans are buying communist goods and opening labor camps in China, otherwise your Kerry/communist might have meant something. Ironic,no?

America Bad. Communism Good. Socialism Good. Free Market Bad.

Liberals hate Wal-Mart so therefore they love communism? Where is the free market? You've been snookered.

Liberals hate capitalism. Wal-mart uses capitalism very well.

Liberals are socialist pundants

Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote.
Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty.
Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act.
Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.
What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things ? every one. Long live conservatism!!

Liberals gave us the likes of John Kerry (traitor). They gave us higher taxes. They gave us the welfare problem we have today. People who rely on the government to live off of.

God Less this young man.
