The latest on Congressman Ryan's hero, Ayn Rand, who was known for her self-righteous philosophical assaults against government aid and collectivism.

An interview with Eva Pryor, a social worker and consultant to Miss Rand's law firm of Ernst, Cane, Gitlin and Winick verified that on Miss Rand's behalf she secured Rand's Social Security and Medicare payments which Ayn received under the name of Ann O'Connor (husband Frank O'Connor).

I felt this comment hit the spot just right.

mgfarelly - As delicious a hypocrisy as this is, I can't take pleasure in gloating at someone's financial/medical struggles, even someone as philosophically bent as Rand. The real sadness here is her deluded adherents and fans, with their "Going Galt" mantra. Their demands to slash and burn any form of social safety net will leave them, and their children and grandchildren, more vulnerable than Rand herself.

But what can you expect from a philosophy founded entirely on selfishness and greed?
