DNR rules too restrictive: Republicans

A Republican controlled committee voted 5-4 against using DNR safe water limits to restrict the use of a dangerous herbicide made by a Republican special interest corporation known as Monsanto. The Wisconsin DNR has a habit of ignoring private interests, economic growth and profits in favor of safeguarding the public from contaminated water and polluted air. So the Republicans would like a private environmental firm independent of the public welfare to review the findings.
JG Excerpt:
Sen. Bob Jauch, (D-Poplar), accused Republicans of doing Monsanto’s bidding in hopes of securing a special interest ally in an election year. Pounding his desk at times, he ripped Republicans for not trusting the states experts.
Make no mistake Senator, the Republicans are doing this because they already work for Monsanto, not because they are looking to be hired by them in the future.
JG Excerpt:
Monsanto toxicologist Joel Kronenberg said the state used inaccurate figures in its equations, resulting in standards that are far too low. To suffer blood problems similar to what befell the (lab)rats, a person would have to drink a million glasses of water a day.
I have personally been involved in two different wellwater contamination issues, and let me say, I have heard the same analogy presented by the Monsanto toxicologist from other defenders of contaminated water. Lets just say you don’t want a young child or a baby bathing in or drinking water that the state has deemed questionable. The worst part of this as far as taxpayers are concerned is, after global giants like Monsanto earn profits by destroying a natural resource like your drinking water, you get to pick up the restoration tab through the Wisconsin well compensation program, which is a get-out-of-jail-free card handed to these gluttonous and arrogant profiteers.
