Funny ways to honor people

Channel 3 WISC-TV presented another dose of their fair and balanced news this morning when anchor Rob Starbuck announced that a marriage amendment in Congress failed yesterday. He couldn’t leave it at that, but proceeded to say that the proponents for the amendment think people should remember those who voted against it, and vote them out of office in November.
Sure, this can work both ways, and people can remember who voted for the amendment and vote them out of office in November too, but Starbuck didn’t say it that way.

The Janesville Messenger on July 19th reported in their “Newsmaker” column that Democrat Mike Sheridan received the “Friend of Agriculture” award from the Volunteers for Agriculture, a political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau. Their newsmaker column typically honors local people for their efforts and Mike Sheridan deserved this one.

But in honoring Sheridan, the Messenger made sure they put in their own political action by reminding people that Sheridan is opposed by Republican Fred Yoss of Janesville in the upcoming November election. The Messenger has a funny way to honor someone by putting their challengers name in the same article. Way to go!
