Walker Suggests Foxconn Commitment Is To Him - Not The State

Says Foxconn didn't keep a promise to build a plant in Pennsylvania because "Pennsylvania changed governors." — Gov. Scott Walker, July 28, 2017

Politifact gave his statement a mostly false rating, but Walker does have a history of both, breaking promises and signed contractual agreements between the state and private parties. Remember Talgo?

The difference Walker alludes to this time however, whether we agree with the deal or not, is it's Foxconn (not him) who won't keep their promise if Wisconsin changes governor.

It's an eye-rolling "re-elect me or else" statement to make, even from a full-time political hack like Walker. But it does suggest Foxconn's commitment is to Scott Walker only - not the state.

The onus now falls back on Foxconn. Are they committed to the state or the governor? It's a question they should answer before going one step further.

Mike Ellis was 100% right. "Walker is for Walker", and the Fox-con is a desperate attempt to save his 40% approval self from being tossed out in 14 months.

It's also reminiscent of Robbin' Vos saying before the 2012 recall election "re-elect Walker and the Wisconsin economy will take off like a rocket." Yeah, didn't quite work out that way, did it?

In fact, the downside risk of keeping Walker is much higher vs whoever might replace him.
