Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and his Republican cohorts in the Senate approved a resolution this morning instructing police to compel the Democrats “with or without force” to go to the Capitol by 4 p.m. today
“Politics aside, encouraging the forcible detention of duly elected lawmakers because they won’t allow you to dictate with a free hand is an unreasonable abuse of police power,” Palmer said.
The resolution authorizes law enforcement with “all necessary steps, with or without force,” to compel the Democratic Senators to attend..

Love the poster. Thanks for bringing to light Palmer's great perspective on Walker and Fitzgerald.
I hopes it's as clear to voters as it is to us.
I don't agree with the image. To me, it has nothing to do with "liberal" or "conservative". BUT, if a conservative blogger generated the IDENTICAL image with a different intent, it would be looked up negatively by liberal bloggers. Would it be OK if a liberal blogger had generated the Palin crosshairs image to imply she is threatening violence against democrats? If it is OK, imagery (whichever side it is generated by) is not important because it depends on the context it is displayed. If I had a certain mindset (which I don't have BTW), I could see your image above out of context and think "Right on. Go Fitzgerald Brothers!
But the republicans have escalated the rhetoric with their resolution suggesting the use of force if necessary. They didn't use art, they actually put it into words and made it a resolution. They should be condemned permanently for that action. No doubt there are conservatives (if I may call them that) that see the image and think, "Right on. Go Fitzgerald Brothers!" but not out of context, but in THEIR context. That's what we are up against.
I've had an email on this saying I should be ashamed of myself for painting our law enforcement officials up as thugs beating up a legislator. I didn't. Those two punishers could very well be Fitzgerald paid thugs beating up on James Palmer for his remarks. There's plenty of wiggle room when it comes to art, but there is no wiggle room or excuse for the republublicans resolution to use force.
It's just one more small step to Dead or Alive. I'm sure which one Mr. Baseball-Bat Walker would prefer.
Not that I would condone the use of force against anyone that had actually broken the law but especially when that use of force is against people that have broken no laws. All the 14 did was damage the pride of some power hungry bullies.
