Trust Ryan's Bridges To The Future?

As reported by Thomas Rollcall for the past week in Congress and published in Monday's Janesville Gazette.
Bridge Inspections:
Members passed, 367 - 55, a bill to upgrade bridge inspections standards for state and local authorities who oversee the safety of highway bridges in the United States. A "YES" was to pass a bill (HR 3999) requiring states to put their riskiest bridges first in line for repairs.
Rep. Paul Ryan was one of the 55 voting against the bill. Cost? Does it really matter? It is estimated at $7 per American over the 2008-2012 period.

Why do I get the nagging feeling that Ryan would have voted "Yea" for upgrading bridge inspections in Iraq.

How disappointing it was to read about the grand opening of the Obama office here in the Gazette at 7 this evening. Was that for party bigshots only or was the public invited? If I would have known about it a few days ago, I would have planned to attend. Nothing on your blog here either. What gives?

Well…that makes the two of us. Contrary to what many readers might think, I’m not affiliated with the democratic party. I do support democratic ideals.

But the Obama campaign or the democratic party here must have reason to think they don’t have to reach out to all of their supporters. I must say, to send out a press release only through their own party contacts and to media combatants such as the Gazette only to be printed the same day of the event is both, stupifying and disappointing. A smart organizer should have known better. Despite that, I’m sure they had a great turn out.

You'd have to ask them the same question, GG. Feel free to post their answer here.

Thanks for the comment.

I believe the Dems did send a notice to the Gazette about the opening but I don't know what happened from there. Still you'd think the Ragette would have had something in there due to the fact that over 200 people showed up! But they didn't cover it, go figure.

The Gazette did post it in the local section on page 10A under "Briefs," the same day of the event. Home deliveries don't arrive until 5 PM for most. For many, it was too short a notice.

Trust me, if McCain opens an office here - it will be marketed through any and all channels available AND covered.
