Republican candidate: Muslims security risk

A Republican running in Wisconsin's Third Congressional District advocates racial profiling as a "no nonsense" security measure to help catch terrorists.

Paul R. Nelson suggests Muslim males ought to be singled out, by airport security. "Racial profiling is one way that we can cut down on security risks," said Nelson. Asked how to tell what a Muslim male looks like, Nelson said "well, you know, if he comes in wearing a turban and his name is Mohammed, that's a good start."

Let's start profiling racists.
White guys named Paul is a good start.

I'm really not sure what the word "profiling" angers so many people. Law enforcement "profiles" all the time. Is there an outrage to that? Is there an outrage for police officers "profiling" drug dealers and actually arresting them and keeping our streets safe? It's common sense. Ninety percent of terrorist attacks have been done my men of middleeastern discent between the ages of 18 and 35. Now why would we not focus on these people? No, instead lets watse time and money on searching eighty year old grandmother's in wheelchairs so, we don't offend the muslim community.

Companies, commercial websites, banks and retail stores legally profile us during every transaction and nobody seems to care or complain, so I too believe this tool can be used for crime fighting under the right conditions.
However, because Paul Nelson is a real estate agent running for Congress, he is familiar with Wisconsin fair housing and discrimination laws and should have responded to the question at least in those terms. I can only imagine what this guy says to prospective home buyers if they ask ”any darkies live around here.” It is not the issue so much as it was his response. That’s what everyone wanted to hear and it stunk.

He didn't beat around the bush. Why should he? Call a spade a spade.

gaqeosYeah, Mel Gibson called a spade a spade and look what it got him. Wal-Mart spokesperson Andrew Young also spoke what he thought and now he resigned. Trent Lott, we could go on and on....... these bigots have no place in politics.
