Excerpt:
Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Green proposed Monday giving Wisconsin back-to-school shoppers a break from the sales tax for one weekend each year. Green spokesman Luke Punzenberger said the campaign has not calculated an estimated cost for the tax break. He said shoppers in other states have seen savings of up to $10 million.
Green apparently will promise anything to get votes. No doubt, everyone would like a tax cut. But no matter how well intentioned a tax holiday appears to a shopper, Green just took a projected $1.50 billion deficit and turned it into a $1.51 billion deficit. He just broke another one of his reckless campaign promises about prohibiting politicians from making the deficit even worse. This guy was a House Representative? He can’t be this stupid?! Can he?

Why would democrats want to help the consumers. When gas is at an alltime high. People are struggling to get their vehicles filled up. Why would Doyle want to give the families of Wisconsin a tax break for three days? This is just another reason why he says he's for the citizens of Wisconsin but, his actions say otherwise. This is a chance for working families to get a little bit of a break on school supplies. Wisconsin is over taxed now anyway. Why not give the families of Wisconsin a break? This is done in 14 other states and they don't seem to be struggling with collecting taxes. I think it's a great idea and it's to bad that Doyle doesn't think so.
I agree with you 100% about the benefits of any taxcut, providing government can meet their allocated budget. Again, its the principle of the candidate at question here. Green has made promises that he can't back up and he didn't need a few years to break them. He broke his promises coming right out of the starting gate.
He could get it through. At least he is putting it on the table. That's what it's all about. The more people see this and believe in it the more they send the letters to the lawmakers in Madison and they get something together. Of course it's an election year and promises are promised. Doyle is campaigning on saving people from diseases with his stem cell research campaign. I don't think he can keep that promise either.
Why did you remove my comment about Green taking dirty money?
