”Like everyone else, I know people who are suffering from some of our great afflictions,” Green added. “So they are sensitive issues… It seems as though the governor is dismissive of them and wants to turn them into campaign fodder.”Whaaa?…. You don’t dismiss someones suffering by searching for ways to reverse the pain and end their misery. The worst thing about Green’s apparent religiosity towards embryonic stem cell research is his hypocrisy. Its fine if private companies move forward on the research and benefit financially from new discoveries, his God just won’t allow him to use Federal tax dollars to save lives or keep breakthroughs in the public domain.
There's just too much money at stake here. If you want to see people used as political fodder in the stem cell research debate, you don’t have to look any further than President Bush when he marched out several test-tube children while announcing his veto of the funding.

Why does Doyle twist the truth? Mark Green isn't against stem cell research or the federal funding of stem cell research. He is against the embro stem cell federal funding. Big difference. It seems Doyle still thinks that Wisconsites are stupid like we don't know the truth well, news flash diamond Jim we do know the truth. It's hard to believe that anybody would support the harvesting of human embroyos. To kill a living embryo for research that has yet to cure anything is insane and truly unethical. Why should taxpayers support this? Mark Green has voted for federal funding of adult stem cell research and has supported this type of research. Nobody is against that type of stem cell research. Please get the facts correct before trying to spin the truth. There are two types of stem cells. But, keep hoping that the public is stupid and keep feeding them the lies maybe it will work. It seems Doyle is real got at lying.
I am fully aware of the difference between adult and embryonic stem cells. You would outlaw embryonic stem cell research(ESCR) based on your beliefs and morals, that's fine. However, Bush and Green did not outlaw (ESCR) but they both pretend to have your morals and values. They cut off additional Fed funding which means they are pandering to you.
They actually have spent more money on embroyodic stem cell research than any prior administrations. They have said that the embryonic stem cells that are already frozen will be used for research that's never mentioned though. President Bush has said numorous times he doesn't support the federal funding of new embroyonic stem cell research. He vetoed that bill. Seems that he does have morals and values. He has said this from the first day in office. He has stuck to his beliefs.
With morals and values, there is no middle ground, it's either you do or you don't. Look, I could live with Bush supporting embryonic stem cell research, which he does. But not to cut off the funding using the moral/value approach, that doesn't work for me or my God, if it works for you that's fine.
President Bush hasn't taken the middle road from what I have seen. He took his position from day one of his presidency. Why should taxpayers pay for the destruction of human life for research? I'm not sure to many people would support this if it was presented to the voters in that language. It seems the democrats want to lump together all stem cell research into one and then point the finger at the republicans when the vote it down saying "see seee the republicans don't support stem cell research" a complete lie.
Most people know the difference between embryonic an adult. The words are self explanatory.
Most people want to see and end to alzheimers and cancers by any means necessary. Whether the embryo's would have been discarded anyways isn't even the issue here. I listen to a politicians words carefully like most people do, and when they stand at the podium and tell people they are cutting off Fed funding for ESCR because of their religious beliefs thats okay, but when they make no effort to outlaw the research, I find them dishonest and weakly principled. I also believe discoveries should be kept in the public domain so all can have a chance to benefit regardless of their economic class. That's why in my view, we must keep it out of the hands of profiteers. When a person injects their religion to make decisions, their is no middle ground.
I personally know two couples who have told me that if their daughter(13 and 15 years old) gets pregnant, they will make her have the baby because of their religious beliefs, thats fine. But they were also happy to see the morning after pill become available over the counter. What happen to their religious beliefs? Same with Bush.
I agree with you. I think that any destruction of human embroyo's isn't good. I don't however believe that the government should step in the way of research. If a private company wants to use embroyo's for research then great that's what it's all about. The morning after pill isn't abortion. It's not killing a human embroyo. It's used to prevent pregnancy. Big difference.
No, you've missed my point. No.1 I am for the embryonic research. No.2 I am for our government funding the research. No.3 I am for private companies doing it also. But who cares about me?
But I care is what our public leaders do, when they say one thing and do another. Bush is an expert at it. And I don't believe private industry should have a lock on what could be the greatest medical breakthroughs in the world. They exploit enough. Bush is cutting domestic only spending any way he can, and he used his veto for the first time under the guise of morals and values. What he needs to do is cut out his war based on morals and values. You believe what you want, but we are just going around in circles.
Bush and Green are for embryonic stem cell research. They need to go to the podium during Sunday mass and explain that to their Bible toting supporters. They need to explain that God said it's okay so long as they don't use Federal money.
Bush has spent more money then any other administration on stem cell research. But, you don't see trhat in the main stream media. Embryodic stem cell research hasn't had any break throughs what so ever. It's just a theory that they COULD have a break through. I don't support the taxpayers flipping the bill to destroy a human life in the name of science that hasn't proven anything.
Nobody ever landed on the moon before 1969, why?
It's always a good arguement to throw out the "well the embroyo's are just throw out anyway". You know that isn't always going to be the case. These embroyo's will eventually bein to be harvested for the pure purpose to be destroyed. They won't be just sitting in a freezer in a clinic somewhere. They will be harvested just like a crop.
