Doyle era eases tax burden - WTA

JG excerpt:
While Wisconsins tax burden ranked sixth in 2004, it was down from a decade ago when it ranked third, the report said.

Wisconsin’s tax burden on its residents ranked 3rd worst in the nation during the Republican era of Governors Thompson and McCallum. Things are getting better under the guidance of Gov. Jim Doyle. Wisconsin now ranks sixth, according to the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. Do we want to go back to those "good ol'days"?

We can't trust Jim Doyle he has proven that. His administration reaks of corruption. He simply raises "fees" which are a tax in itself. He makes it easier for out of state students to attend Wisconsin colleges and harder for Wisconsin students to attend in state schools. He has given the Indian tribes an open ended deal to gaming rights in Wisconsin. Why? because the donate money to his campaign. This man isn't a good symbol of what makes Wisconsin great. He puts a face of disception on the face of Wisconsin. It's time for Doyle to go.

Editorial: Doyle's deficit problem

The numbers are out. Wisconsin state government will start planning the 2007-09 budget with a $2.5 billion deficit. The figures came from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau, at the request of state Sens. Mike Ellis and Rob Cowles.

Point the finger of blame at the governor. Gov. Jim Doyle "balanced" the existing budget by borrowing money from funds he wasn't supposed to touch or simply not counting some costs.

Bizarre, but true.

An honest approach would have had a budget with a combination of cuts, mergers and reduced spending when writing the 2005-07 budget.

So, Doyle needs to explain why he doesn't want to be serious or he needs to get serious for 2007-09.

The governor with the most powerful veto pen in the nation shouldn't have a deficit problem like the one of Gov. Jim Doyle of Wisconsin.

You're right, Doyle shouldn't have a deficit problem, that he has a hostile legislature to work with doesn't help. If you can point all the blame at him, what are all those people doing at the Capital building?
Right now, he is the best man available to balance the budget and bring Wisconsin out of a hole.
