On July 3rd the Janesville Gazette raised the newsstand price of their paper-thin daily paper to 75 cents, which is a whopping 50% increase. I can hardly blame them for the increase due to the Bush economy(inflation), but that is a liberals view (reality). However, knowing the self-described conservative tone of their editorials, one can only speculate on their attitude had this increase been a result of Congress raising the Federal minimum to say, $10 an hour. They would be fuming!
But raising the price because of artificially high energy prices and widespread profit demand(compassionate conservatism), well that’s okay. The Gazette regularly offers various jobs in customer service and mailroom at around $7.00 an hour. Imagine if they were told they must now pay $10 an hour to entry level employees. Fair analogy?
