GOP Sleeper Cells in Wisconsin

Last week, Stan Milam wrote an article titled, “Is election about issues or integrity?” in which he sort of complains about the mudslinging and lies thrown between the two candidates for governor, by writing about the mudslinging and lies.

He (Milam) belittles the first governors debate sponsored by the “We the People” forum, calling it a misguided attempt to initiate something called civic journalism. I watched the entire debate and although Mark Green spent most of his time twisting facts against the governor, Doyle spoke about the issues only after first untwisting Green’s claims. But even with that, the debate allowed the viewer to paint a picture of something more tangible than the mudslinging offered in print on a daily basis. The debate contained some dirt, but not enough for many to avoid calling it boring. So Milam says blah, blah, blah, then proceeds to write about the very dirt and personal attacks with supporting dates, press releases and third party involvement.

A few days later, the Janesville Gazette editorial does the same thing. But takes it a step further by writing their political slant into it, offering that Green’s arguments are logical, while facts are against Doyle. They keep bringing up the Georgia Thompson bribery conviction case and imply that if Thompson was hired by a previous governor and worked for Doyle administator Marc Marotta, she must have been connected directly with Doyle. It’s a bunch of hooey!

Instead of writing about the issues and the candidates viewpoints, the Gazette editorial continues presenting more mud. The only statement of information they supplied worth reading was the fact that a bill aimed at restoring ethics and accountability in Wisconsin was shut down by …….Republicans. No surprise here.

As voters we are exposed to the television ads from both candidates. Isn’t that enough negativity to listen to on a regular basis? After the initial reports, must we get more of the same from the newspapers. The mainstream media, newspapers and journalists all claim they hate all the mudslinging, lies and deception. But ohh, do they love to write about it.

I’m really starting to fear for our state. Wisconsin seems to be next in line after Florida and Ohio. The right-wing media has been relentlessly ripping one of the hardest working and ethical governors in modern Wisconsin history. Democrats should not take anything for granted. Recent history including the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections has shown that a difference of only five points in the polls energized the GOP’s sleeper cells into action. The Republicans have stolen several key offices. The fix could be in again. The GOP desperately want this state and they’ll do anything to get it. Are we progressive enough to beat them?

The liberal democrats embrace fraud. That's why they don't have a problem with what Doyle has done with state contracts.

Doyle is ethically bankrupt, the State Elections Board is comprised of Doyle-esque thugs that can't manage to read a legal opinion from their own attorney...but by all means, lets all blame the "Right wing media", what an easy excuse when things aren't, on the surface, going your way? If you truly want to be "progressive", stop whining, get an agenda that will appeal to the vast majority of Wisconsonites, and raise the necessary cash to compete with the GOP, who, in the short term, will always be better organized, better funded, and have better candidates and a better agenda. I spent over two decades in the media...the media is neutral...it is the perception of the reader, listener, or viewer that manufacturers the "right-wing", "left-wing" labels so that they can process fact into anger.

I like how Doyle potrays hiself as a guy who fights corruption. Is this guy for real? He must have gotten personal lying lessons from Bill Clinton. What Mr. Doyle who's under federal investigation? He thinks were stupid. The only stupid people are the ones that would actually vote for this clown.

Do you have anything good to say about Green? What are Greens plans for the economic expansion? In truth, his plans for Wisconsin are non-existant. Comparatively speaking, Doyle is a far better governor than the last two. That might not mean too much considering the awful condition they left the state in. But he's an improvement.

To germantown kid,
You may not believe me, but I only read mainstream right-wing news and commentary. I try to maintain consistency on my liberal rights/economic conservatism/corporate regulation views and I don't need much idealogical re-inforcement from my left-wing friends. We are on the same page.

The only way to defeat a political foe is to understand their motives first and learn as much about them as possible. Fox news, Wisconsin State Journal, Coulter, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, etc. are just a few of the more popular right-wing enablers I look to.

Its useless JJ. Nobody knows what Greens plans are with spending cuts or taxes, even Green himself. I've searched some of the most die-hard Green sites for a plan. Nothing exists except to slander Doyle. Pathetic.

You may want to look on his website. It's on the tab mark's plan. They have an outline of what he wants to do to make Wisconsin great again. votemarkgreen.com

Thanks for the note.
I immediately went Mark Greens plan and this is what I got:

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred. This application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons).

This is not a joke. I couldn't help but laugh at the relationship. Green's plan no doubt will be a "runtime error" if he's elected.

I'll try later when when his server is no longer "corrupt."

>>> "Doyle is ethically bankrupt, the State Elections Board is comprised of Doyle-esque thugs"????

Then the Republican assembly should not have blocked the SB1 ethics bill!!!

Why is Doyle under FERDERAL investagation if he is so squeaky clean? Pull your head out of the sand and look at what this guy has done to this great state. We are the 11th highest taxed state in the union. He says he balanced the budget without raising taxes but, he raised "fees" which is a form of taxes. He's used his campaign donors for no bid state contracts. He had a member of his campaign who is now in federal prison. But, he's not corrupt. It's amazing how blind some people are to this. Just because he is a democrat that is alright for people. It's the person that I vote for and Doyle has digraced the office of gov.

Karl Rove was under Federal investigation, he was cleared. The democratic governor of Illinois is also under investigation.

Republican campaign rule No.1 Make at least a dozen false accusations at each incumbent Democrat and maybe you can convince the states attorney to order an investigation on at least one of them. With Republicans in charge, I would not be surprised if nearly every Democratic Governor or Mayor is under investigation. When they are indicted and convicted, only then have they disgraced their country.

Green's further along with his money problems. Unlike many Democrats who insist he return the money to his Federal PAC's, I hope he ignores authorities so they can lock him up before people waste their vote on him.

Doyle didn't CUT taxes either. Something he could have done. He's increased fees (taxes). Just a play on words from Diamond Jim Doyle. If he uses the word "fees" instead of "taxes" people will think he really didn't raise taxes. Typical leftie demorat can't stand to actually CUT taxes.

Lou Kaye said...

Fee's, toll's and due's are actually Republican creations that are directed to instill responsibility on point-of-use benefactors whom Republicans have felt are getting a free-ride. Unlike Republicans, Democrat's employ their use out of necessity.

Again, people don't realize how we are being shortchanged in federal dollars. More point of use fee's and higher local taxes. This will get worse unless the people have the nerve to change the direction and vote Republicans out.
