Chicago: Homeless Advocates Seek TIF Funds

Chicago Tribune Excerpt:
The group has spent several months trying to get the City Council to approve an ordinance requiring the city to use 20 percent of the money generated each year in the zones — known as tax increment financing districts — to create affordable housing.

What's wrong with affordable housing? It seems like the last thing we need is another subdivision with $400,000 homes or condos. Homeless people, whether they are single men or whole families, need housing too. Hard for the developers to turn a profit though...
